Why I Built LocalPulse

Before I started working with computers, I was a carpet installer. I watched my boss (~50 years old), back blown out, still laying carpet day after day, waiting on the next referral that may or may not come so that bills for the month wouldn't go unpaid.

Before that, I was a personal trainer. What brought me most gratitude wasn't putting others through tough workouts and watching them struggle. It was seeing them make it through and realize we are much stronger than we realize ourselves to be. I was witnessing them grow into happier, stronger beings.

I can do this all over again — but with a whole business, and many times a whole family.

Where I am now

These days, having my computer as my office has given me freedom. Freedom to work from anywhere, control my schedule, retire my mom, and now provide for a newborn. But this has been a closed loop. It's blessed my family but not yet reached many outside my own house. LocalPulse is the tool I've built for that.

I'm overall a positive man, but it's hard to ignore where things seem to be heading. Prices are going up. Jobs are getting replaced. Wages aren't keeping pace. Small businesses are going to have to compete for what may already be a shrinking consumer — and the owners I want to work with are the ones too busy doing the actual work to figure out modern marketing on their own.

AI is also too big an opportunity to ignore. People are relying on AI search. Businesses are increasingly judged by whether LLMs recommend them. The agencies ignoring this are going to leave their clients exposed.

How LocalPulse actually runs

LocalPulse is built around AI from the foundation up. I lay out the strategy, the systems, and the standards. AI handles the heavy lifting — research, drafting, monitoring, reporting. I review every output before it reaches the public; I'm the human accountable when something needs a judgment call.

A traditional 5-person agency has to price for 5 paychecks. We don't.

What I think most SEO agencies get wrong

They treat SEO like it's a website, some keywords, and maybe even a blog. That's the surface. Real SEO is layered — Google Business Profile, citations, reviews, schema, site structure, content, AI visibility, geographic relevance — and it takes time. The agencies overhyping 30-day results simply don't understand the work and/or are too lazy to do it. Either way, the client pays for it.

Who I want to work with

LocalPulse is for the business owner who wants to take their home service business to the next level but is too busy doing the work to learn the technicality of SEO.

This, much like starting a business from zero, takes time. I want to work with the business owner that's not looking for a quick return — rather, the one who understands compounding and delayed gratification. Good things come to those who wait.

Where this is going
